Last Day of Irrigation Water

The last day of irrigation water will be between September 2 -5, 2013. As we draw down Como Lake in the days to come I can give you a better idea on the exact date that irrigation water will be shut down. This information will be posted on the web site.

The HydroMet system which gives Como Lake elevation readings is not working. The Bureau of Reclamation will be working on the system in the off season.

BASIC WATER

Como Lake stopped spilling on Friday, July 5, 2013. Basic rule of thumb is once the Como Lake stops spilling the District normally has 60 days of water pending weather and unforeseen problems with the canal. Just a reminder once the Lake stops spilling the District is on BASIC WATER

Siphon One Repaired

Siphon one was repaired earlier this afternoon. The District started water from Como Lake at 2:30 PM May 21, 2013. If the District doesn’t encounter any further problems it will take a couple of days to build the ditch backup to full capacity.
Siphon One will be down for repairs. We anticipate the siphon should be down for 48 to 72 hours. The District won’t know the extent of the repairs until the siphon drains. We will have very little help from the tributaries, Skalkaho and Burnt creeks, due to the lack of water in the creeks. Please stay posted for updates.
The Bitter Root Irrigation District is having a Public meeting on January 17, 2013 7:00 PM at the Corvallis Grange. The Corvallis Grange is located at 130 Dutch Hill Corvallis, Mt. The Public meeting will be open to discuss and receive public comment on siphon one phase three construction project. This phase will involve crossing the Bitterroot River with new pipe and replacement of the bridge. The District is requesting comment from irrigators and river users on the proposed plan and costs. For questions or concerns, call the District Office at 961-1182.

Lateral Maintenance

Folks it’s that time of year. Time to start looking at your laterals to ensure they are clean. Lateral maintenance from the main canal to the point of delivery is the responsibility of the users of the laterals. Water will not be delivered to laterals that have not been properly maintained.

Water Start Up April 22, 2013

The district plans on starting water on Monday April 22, 2013. The water from Como Lake takes approximately four days to reach the end of the canal. Pending location, on the main canal, this can take four to ten days to receive your water. Make sure your last minute maintenance items are completed prior to water delivery. Water users that are on open ditches need to walk the water down to ensure that the water doesn’t get blocked by debris, and flood someone out. Communicate with your neighbor. This is the key for having a successful water season.
BASIC WATER

We will be on BASIC water until further notice. The end users are not receiving water this is the justification for starting basic water. The District is running a full ditch. We have no inflows from the eastside of the valley as of yet. We know everything is dry and everyone is trying to turn on at once. So everyone needs to be PATIENT…. So, until we get a break in the weather this is how it is.

Water Update

Ditch riders are starting to release water down the laterals. Water users that are on open ditches need to walk the water down to ensure that the water doesn’t get blocked, by debris, and flood someone out. It is the responsibility of all water users on that lateral to ensure this happens. Communicate with your neighbor. This is the key for having a successful water season.
